I might be superstitious enough to believe in luck among other things, but this Friday the 13th shaped lucky moments and auspicious times thanks to the musical offerings of Gandalf Murphy & the Slambovian Circus of Dreams with Special Guest Higher Animals.
The enchanted evening at 92Y Tribeca began with music from Higher Animals, a band that draws you in with a Fiest-like uplifting approach, while simultaneously attacking heavy topics through vivid storytelling. Their sound is very original and I am so looking forward to hearing their first album, which they are currently recording.
Then Gandalf Murphy and the Slambovian Circus took the stage, with a presence that was electrifying. The band’s warmth radiated from the stage outward and the high quality sound was more intoxicating than the excessively strong drinks the bar provided.
I highly recommend catching one of their shows. Check out their tour schedule.
